20/02: Bank of America can KISS MY A$$!
God I've had it with the worst bank in the world. Holy crap. Over the last two years, they've gone from what I considered the best bank in the world to clearly the WORST. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. What scares me even more, they hold the mortgage on my house. What will they do with that next?!?
I've been with them for over half a decade. Been overjoyed with the cool options they offered. But slowly and surely they've killed any hope I've had at being responsible.
OK, it started with their OWN systems... I input all of my accounts into their 'profile' system and it's nice and fun to keep track of everything at one place. When I entered my house and mortgage, it automatically setup some sort of Zestimate thing. I never did it, they did. Worked great for 3 years... Suddenly it failed. I never changed anything, just suddenly says my address is no good. I call the help desk, they basically tell me to piss off, they don't care.
That's one. But I also use their wire transfer service to organize all of my accounts. Nice free service, one of the reasons I signed up with BoA to begin with. But NOW... to use it, I have to buy a $20 key to keep with me. It's like those SecurID key fobs companies use for their VPN systems... I have to buy one from BoA just to do transfers of any real value. Now I can make tiny ones.. So for the last year I've had to make 3-4 at the same time in their max increments without using the key. This is time consuming with their pretty poor web interface and page after page just to make it happen, but also even if I did pay the bastards and got the key, I'd have to keep track of THAT. Like I need another thing like that to keep around... It serves NO purpose. To get in there, they'd have to know my account name and password (more on that in a minute) and site key anyhow. All this serves is to pad their pockets so they can give another $4M office to some dickhead who doesn't deserve it but not have to use bailout money this time. Kiss my @$$!
The next part is their in-bank transfer system. I want just my bank accounts. They added my credit cards and mortgages to the list. I have them all in my 'bill pay' section and have no need or desire to have them in my 'transfer between accounts' page. Sounds small pickles right? WRONG. It bit me in the ass... I tried to make a $1500 transfer from savings to checking for an emergency medical reason. In the haste, I selected the credit card instead. No confirmation or anything just click done. Instantly noticed the mistake, tried to undo it. Usually you can during that day right? WRONG. Instant transfer. Spent three hours on the phone to get told 'you can get it back in 5-7 days'. Great. I'm bleeding out and the $ to fix it is in escrow suddenly cause THEY felt it was important to have instant transfers to cards. However the cards won't get it for 5-7 days anyhow so they can't return it till they get confirmation... So... what does that save? NOTHING! Fu#$ers... So I asked them to remove them from the transfer list so this wouldn't happen again. "We can't do that sir... They are your accounts and have to be there..." Excuse me?!? They are MY accounts and I will tell you where they have to be. All of my other banks (yes, I have more than one, don't you?) have absolutely no problem with similar requests. Even big ones like E*Trade have bent over backwards to make me happy (now if they could just get their savings account % back up to where it should be...).
The last straw... Today, after many many years... I suddenly get a huge popup saying my password and onlineid (which they gave me) are not 'secure' enough and MUST BE CHANGED INSTANTLY! What the MOTHER @#$%!?!?! I send them a message as I have a dozen times before and just as in every single time, I get a packaged response. THEY DON'T FREAKIN READ ANYTHING! At this time, I seriously doubt they have the skills to do so... As for my password, it's not any word or phrase, it's a combination of letters, numbers, different cases, symbols, etc. It's long and complex and no way anyone or any thing could get it short of a key tracker or packet interrupt system. (Good enough for the federal security system even... Not that I have access but I have tested my passwords with their validation system and it always comes back as the highest security or I don't use it.) Yet they don't like it so I have to change it... right now... ..|.,
F@#$% This company. I've had nothing but horrible customer service at every turn, cramping down harder and harder on what were my free services, getting billed for their mistakes and 'overdraft' fees (when I have more than three times what was supposedly overcharged sitting right there)... And that's not even the top of it. Here I've only posted the few big items that truly ticked me off. I haven't listed the gross of other changes and charges they've screwed me over with.
DO NOT USE BANK OF AMERICA! (should be BoaA (anti-America) instead of BoA... They do not deserve to use our country's name...) It's like crack-filled chocolate. Tastes great and gets you hooked and keeps you numb while they ram it right up your backside. Once you realize you're getting screwed, it's too late.
EDIT: I'm not even finished leaving yet (changing banks does take time to get everything setup) and they're still screwing me. I have payments that go out tomorrow and they did an automatic transfer and charged me $31.50... Twice... I just logged into do a transfer to cover these and noticed this. After complaining, suddenly the charges are gone although so seems to be about $200 of my balance that I can't account for. (I had the transfer complete and had ~ $350 in my checking, nothing's happened since accept them screwing around and I'm down to $150... ?!? Savings haven't changed so it's missing and their own system has no record of it... I only remember my balances as of that day, not the specifics, so I can't even track it down...) BoA is nothing but a huge crook. I'm now also looking for a new mortgage company to take over my load and I absolutely do not want BoA to have the loan. Even if I take a hit in points or percent (ex-wife has since screwed my credit over), I just don't want BoA to hold my notes. I don't trust these @#$%ers.
